TE lll: Post 1-Schedule & Role

Attached is my current schedule.  This schedule is subject to change for multiple reasons.  We are in the process of hiring a part time interpreter as well as working on fitting in preps.  Currently I am in a dual role of part time interpreter and part time DHH teacher.  All the needs of the students on my caseload are more than myself and a future part time interpreter can fit into a day, so I do the best I can with the time I have in a day.  As an interpreter I am working with 1 student (currently in the afternoon).  This student is still getting use to sign language and using an interpreter.  As a DHH teacher I am working with 5 students ranging from Kindergarten to a Senior all with a variety of hearing losses.  In this role I am working on things such as advocacy, reading comprehension, spelling, studying tips and learning sign language.  Throughout the year I know that I will be teaching new things, refreshing students on old things as well as sharing in challenges and successes with my students.  On my calendar you will notice each student has a color as too when I see them.  There is one student who is not on the schedule because I only see them on a monthly basis for 30 minutes and I am still working with the student to figure out the best time because of a medical conflict.

  1. Hi Jaime!
Thanks for getting your schedule posted by the due date! I appreciate you getting that uploaded, especially with the busy semester that you are having! It can be so tricky to find and retain qualified interpreters and I applaud you for your efforts in making everything work out as well as you can.

Keep me posted on that opening. Perhaps we can think of some creative servicing arrangements to make sure all of the students' IEP service minutes are being met and the district can stay in compliance.

Looking forward to seeing your student profiles for next week's assignment!

    Have a great week!

  2. Jaime, looks like you have your hands full! Yes, hopefully you and Amy can come up with some creative ways to ensure the district is in compliance. It's a tough spot to be in and I can see your optimism in your post!

Looking forward to getting to know you this semester!
